The church coordinator, Mrs. Reynolds, appeared from the side aisle.

“Ms. Sullivan,” she said gently, “would you like us to clear the sanctuary?”

“No.”

Everyone looked at me.

I surprised myself.

“No. These people got dressed. They traveled here. Some flew across the country. The flowers are paid for. The musicians are here.”
